I built a free tool that checks your social profile for the things that cost you clicks.

So before I asked anybody else to use it, I ran it on my own Facebook page.

My first score: 5 out of 10

Not great. But not terrible either.

Then I looked at my answers again.

The audit asks questions like "Is your About section filled in?" Mine was. So I said yes.

But it had things that were done but not up-to-date. Filled in isn't the same as right.

So I took it again, and this time I was strict with myself.

My honest score: 2 out of 10

👉 That's the one that stung.

Not the number. How many things were wrong.

That page was reviewed by someone who I thought knew what they were doing. I trusted it and stopped looking.

What was wrong

  • My cover said "No list." I write a newsletter. That's a list.

  • It had a "Learn more" button that was part of the picture. People click it, and nothing happens.

  • Nothing on the page mentioned my newsletter. Not the cover, not my bio, not my About section.

  • My links didn't point anywhere useful. A visitor who liked what they saw had nowhere to go.

  • My pinned post was from December 2024. It introduced me, but it didn't mention my newsletter. Done, but not up to date.

What I fixed, in about 30 minutes

  • Bio: "I help people over 50 learn affiliate marketing without the hype. Free lesson every Sunday."

  • Cover: my newsletter's name, who it's for, and a photo of Bradley and me.

  • Links: my newsletter first, then the free audit, then Retire & RISE.

  • About section: updated so it tells the same story as everything else.

And yes, I misspelled my own website while fixing it. Check every link after you save it.

One tip if you try this: when you edit your links, Facebook shows them in the reverse order from how they appear on your page. Don't let that throw you.

My score now: 6 out of 10

From 2 to 6 in half an hour.

The last four fixes take time, not editing. Posting about my main topic, pinning a post that introduces me (this one), and so on.

The question I should have asked

Not "Is it done?"

👉 "Is it done, and is it up to date?"

That one question would have caught almost everything.

Your turn

The audit is free, takes about 3 minutes, and works on your phone:

Be strict with yourself. The honest score is the useful one.
